This Listless Summer

A 1950's chocolate lovers dress
The apple trees ream the air
One bright yellow tulip
The cement path and littered leaves

There she is
A vanilla cream rimmed summer
A gantry to my small frame
It's official
I am naming her Nilla
Suits her well, I believe

Nothing too weensy or obliged
I pedal Nilla to the nearest market
The ruffled flits of my Jackie Kennedy skirt
They rip along the rim and mock the wind
Oh to chocolate ice cream
And the way licking fingers reminds me of June

I don't know laughing
Oh no!
Laughing simply knows me

June has claimed my soul!
I want a Queen Vicotria love!
I want grassy lofts!
I want watermelon smiles!

I fancy budded tulips and ripe apples
Paint me in Jackie's blue pearled gown
Let me lie in the sun at the duck pond

This listless summer
You are my nemesis
